When you use JointEffort, we collect:

- Surgery information: Type of surgery (hip or knee), surgery date, your surgeon's name (optional)
- Check-in responses: Your daily answers about pain, swelling, mobility, and overall feeling
- Exercise data: Which exercises you completed
- Usage data: How you interact with the app (pages visited, features used)

- Medical records from your healthcare providers
- Insurance information
- Your full legal name
- Precise location data
- Data from other apps on your device
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- • Personalize your daily check-ins and exercises
- • Track your recovery progress
- • Send safety alerts when concerning patterns are detected
- • Share updates with your caregiver (if you've added one)
- • Improve the JointEffort service
AI and Third-Party Data Processing
JointEffort uses artificial intelligence to power features like Grace, your AI recovery companion. Our AI capabilities are currently provided by Anthropic, PBC, though we may change providers in the future to improve the Service.
When you interact with AI features, your conversation data is processed by our third-party AI provider. Here's what you should know:
- No training on your data: Under our agreements with AI providers, your data is not used to train or improve their AI models. Your conversations remain private and are not incorporated into the provider's training datasets.
- Processing only: AI providers process your inputs solely to generate responses for your current session. They do not retain your data beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
- Security standards: We select AI providers that maintain enterprise-grade security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest.
- Limited data sharing: We share only the information necessary to generate helpful responses (such as your check-in data and conversation context). We do not share your email address or account credentials with AI providers.
If we change AI providers, we will ensure any new provider meets equivalent privacy and security standards, and that your data continues to be protected from use in model training.
What We Never Do
- Sell your data: We never sell your personal information to third parties
- Show ads: JointEffort is ad-free
- Share with insurers: We never share your information with insurance companies
- Contact without consent: We only send communications you've opted into

Caregiver Access
